Job Opportunity: Director of Development

THETA DELTA CHI DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

The Theta Delta Chi Educational Foundation, Inc, in cooperation with the Grand Lodge of Theta Delta Chi, Inc. and the Theta Delta Chi Founders' Corporation, is seeking to fill the position of Director of Development for Theta Delta Chi Fraternity.

The Director of Development will be employed by the Educational Foundation. The position will be jointly funded by the Educational Foundation and the Grand Lodge/Founders' Corporation (the Founders' Corporation is a Holding Company for the Grand Lodge). The Director of Development will report to the Executive Director of the Foundation, who is also jointly funded by the Foundation and the Grand Lodge.

The place of business is 214 Lewis Wharf, Boston, MA, 02110. The position will require the applicant to live in the Boston area and also to undertake extensive traveling. The applicant must have his own automobile in proper working order.

The anticipated initial salary is negotiable depending on the applicant's qualification. The position includes full health and dental benefits and per diem reimbursements for personal expenses while traveling on Foundation and Fraternity business. There is also an expense budget for the Director's business activities.

Primary Duties:

  • Oversee the Foundation's Voluntary Graduate Dues Program. Create and implement fund-raising programs. Work with Central Fraternity Office (CFO) staff to this end.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective Major Donors to the Foundation.
  • Develop and implement a plan on soliciting planned giving
  • Maintain and advance the Ruby Circle giving program targeted at parents
  • Write content for the Shield magazine and any other publications upon request
  • Plan and execute Charitos events. Maintain a regularly update a Calendar of Charitos events in coordination with the CFO. Be present at all, or as many as possible, Charitos events and meet and cultivate alumni in attendance with a view toward increasing membership in the Society.
  • Log all donations into the database.
  • Send thank you letters for donations weekly.
  • Liaise with existing Alumni Associations (AA) and House Corporations (HC). Assist them in problem-solving and development. Coordinate with the CFO in devising programs that would benefit them, e.g. a nationally-managed property insurance program.
  • Seek out alumni of Charges lacking an AA/HC and work to get them established.
  • Liaise with the Committee on the International Housing Corporation.
  • Attend the Annual Convention and the Midwinters Meeting, and other live or teleconferenced meetings of the Executive Committee of the Foundation and the Grand Lodge as required of him by the Executive Director.
  • Communicate all events and programming to the boards, staff and all stakeholders in advance to increase participation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
